Trust fashion to go haywire (oops did I say haywire? I meant awesome, silly me) and still be wanted and admired. Fashion is something which is intricately personal and so opinions about it will massively differ like opinions on cell phones, advertisements or Sonia Gandhi and tongues will wag, they always do. Latest fashion is either loved, received half/whole heartedly/because of intense peer pressure or is treated like executions in gallows.
Let's do a quick fashion recap. The fads which caught on were ‘Gladiator shoes’ for women. Yes, the chunky, strappy warrior-like footwear is in! Shoe designer Rina Shah says, “The style is very high on comfort as gladiator shoes give a perfect grip to the ankle. They are the perfect option for flip-flops which till recently were the choicest summer wear.” Some love it, some yuck it and that’s just how our little world turns. Another trend which made a comeback were the notorious ripped jeans. Thanks to fashionistas of Hollywood and Bollywood, you can now wear your naturally ripped ‘thrown at the back of bottomless closet’ jeans, rip your enemies jeans (this will not count as revenge though, this will result in a thank you) or just get them ripped, anything goes.
Girls in China are now wearing live fish in plastic pendants which costs just 50 cents. It also helps that in eastern mythology, fishes are related Kama - God of Romance and eroticism. These pendants contain water, food and oxygen balls. Fishes can live up to three months after which it’s prudent to leave them in a water tank or a pond. Fashion isn’t gender strict and males are no way far behind. They love all the grooming creams, spas and lotions.
Below is the list of fashion trends which emerged in 2009:
• Blue was the color of the year, paired with vibrant reds, yellows and oranges.
• Slim cut jeans.
• One-shoulder dresses.
• Multi-colored maxi dress in geometrical patterns
• Floral prints.
• Short dresses decorated with plenty of sequins.
• Capri’s.
• Flat shoes.
• Accessories like belts, chains, chunky earrings, scarves, and bracelets.
• Fake crocodile, leather handbags and plain monogram purses
Lot of the items on the list have potential and enough fuel to move forward to 2010, but with fashion, who knows?
