Many open up restaurants and cafes to do business. But there are few that are here just for their passion, just to serve great food. And if you start preparing a list, Bhuvnesh definitely be in the latter. His first venture, the Brickhouse Diner was an instant hit. Everybody loved it and opined that his burgers are unmatched in the capital. (Read the full review of Brickhouse Diner here.)
Soon Bhuvnesh closed down Brickhouse Diner and moved to the alleys of Hauz Khas Village for another experiment and another experience - Cafe 2 2 Tango. Located in the middle lane, on the second floor, Cafe 2 2 Tango is a 14-cover, cosy restaurant with a romantic set-up (read candles on each table, red lamps). Water is served from pretty, coloured glass bottles.
The restaurant serves Latin American cuisine, not so easily found in the city except for a bunch of dishes at a few high-end restaurants. And at Cafe 2 2 Tango, you're in hands of Bhuvnesh who will personalize the entire experience for you. Be sure to discuss with him your preferences and he will make the best suggestions for your tastes and palate.
My friend and I tasted the new summer menu that has just recently been introduced at Cafe 2 2 Tango. The Bruschetta with Watermelon was a nice, summer appetizer. The Watermelon made this light and refreshing. The asparagus soup was light and aromatic. Served in a pot, unlike many Asparagus Soups - this wasn't creamy and great for a summer-night.
The Patatas Bravas (Rs. 200) were like any other Crispy Potato Wedges but with a tangy and spicy flavours. It's a classic tapas dish, native to the cuisine of Spain. A little freshly grounded pepper and this was quite a good snack. The Peri Peri Chicken Skewers (Rs. 175) neither had any zing, nor were soft or tender. Tasted quite alright, nonetheless.
For main course, I ordered the Open-face Ravioli with 3 types of mushroom and my friend asked for Pressure Cooker Lamb Shanks (Rs. 675). The meat was tender with a nice aroma. My friend said it almost melted in her mouth and was absolutely high on flavours. This succulent braised lamb shank was the high of the day for my friend. Especially considering the low price that Bhuvnesh is serving it at - quite a steal!
My Ravioli was done in butter sauce and had a rich meatiness due oodles of mushroom. A super vegetarian dish to order this summer at Cafe 2 2 Tango.
Throughout our meal, we thought all dishes could have slightly more salt for a touch of perfection. So we added freshly ground pepper to almost everything we had which seemed to have fixed the problem.
For desserts, Bhuvnesh brought us the deconstructed Tiramisu - something of a special at Cafe 2 2 Tango. It's an alternate take on the traditional layered Tiramisu. Take the lady finger and dip in the coffee mix for quick 3 seconds and then dip the finger in the Mascarpone Cream. Absolutely addictive and novel. A fun take on the Tiramisu and a true winner!
Bhuvnesh has put his heart into this space and serves you with love. The entire experience is highly personalized and the food has remarkable quality and creativity. And Bhuvnesh does not let you leave without trying his mint chocolates!
If you're looking for a warm place to dine at, with an experience that leaves you happy - visit Cafe 2 2 Tango!
