AGRA PETHA, CHOW

Experiencing Agra doesn’t end with visiting Taj Mahal and other awe-inspiring monuments. The city’s flavour also lies in its culinary art. Amidst the delicious delicacies and sweets offered in Agra, the 'Agra ka Petha' deserves a special mention.

Made from white pumpkin, this sweet is very popular all over North India and is a speciality made and available in Agra. It comes in the shape of cylindrical pieces. The worth-mentioning fact is that these uniquely delicious sweets do come in nearly 50 varieties including Cube Petha, Angoori Petha, Kesar Petha, Mango Petha, Chocolate Petha etc.  However, the ivory white is believed to be the traditional and authentic one. The longing look, melting power and tastiness make it a yummy factor to indulge in. The sweet shops serving these Pethas are available throughout the city. Some of the best picks are Bhimsain Baidya Nath, Pracheen Petha Palace, Munnalal Petha, Bikanervala, Ajanta Sweets etc. These Pethas are also fairly priced for they can be bought in between rupees 44 to 250/K.G. The longer shelf life makes them ideal choice to be presented as gifts during celebrations like Diwali.

Because of the originality and unique features, this sweet is increasingly becoming popular among the tourists who flock in the city from different parts of India and beyond.
