Also referred to as Kothrud Anex, Bavdhan is an upcoming locality, just off the Western Bypass Highway, in the western part of Pune. It is nestled amidst three hills in south, east and west and Pashan Lake in the north. It is situated on NDA Road, the centre of Aundh and Kothrud. The popular Chandni Chowk noted for romantic evenings is located in the vicinity. Hinjewadi IT Park is just 20 minutes drive from here.

Bavdhan is divided into two parts: Bavdhan Khurd and Bavdhan Budruk. Earlier it was a low water zone area, but the construction of new water tank at Chandni chowk has solved the water problem.

In the last five years, the place has witnessed major growth with the springing up of various housing complexes, a widened 100 feet road, a new Aditya Shagun Mall (it is considered to be one of the biggest malls in west Pune).
