Considered the heart of Delhi, Central Delhi is an administrative district of the National Capital Territory of India. Situated centrally, it is an important business area as well. With an area of 25 km², Central Delhi has a population of 644,005 (2001 census) and a population density of 25,759 persons per km². Surrounded by the Yamuna River on the east and by the districts of North Delhi to the north, West Delhi and South West Delhi to the west, New Delhi to the south, and East Delhi to the east across the Yamuna, Central Delhi administration is divided into 3 Sub-Divisions. They are Karol Bagh, Darya Gaj and Pahar Ganj.

East Delhi is cosmopolitan, vivid and evolving every day. This part of the National Capital Territory of Delhi is nestled on the eastern bank of Yamuna River and is also named as "Trans Yamuna". With a population of around 1,448,770 (2001 census), the area hosts people from all across the country, belonging to different castes, creeds and communities. Administratively, the area’s three subdivisions are namely Gandhi Nagar, Preet Vihar, and Vivek Vihar. It is well-connected with rest of the parts of the capital and holds some of the attractions of the city.
