Editor’s Note of Crafts Museum, Pragati Maidan

Situated at Bhairon Road, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, The Crafts Museum is an ultimate village experience amidst of the hip-hop metro city. From thatched roofs to semi puccha huts, marvelous paintings to tranquil courtyards, the museum beings in life to the transcendental image of the amicable Indian villages. Established since 1956, the museum exhibits traditional Indian crafts from wooden carvings, mesmerizing images, metal ware, clay artifacts, terracotta pots, toys, jewelery, textiles, folk and tribal paintings with the main ambition to provide a platform to the native artisans and craftsmen to promote their art and exhibit their talent. In annexation to the astonishing creations, the craft museum also creates a beautiful ambiance with muddy huts decorated with folk as well as tribal paintings, paper-make, wood carvings and embroidery which are of greater allurement for the tourists who come to enjoy and live the very essence of the appealing Indian village. Throughout the week, the museum remains open from 10 AM to 5:30 PM except on Mondays.
