About Pragati Maidan, Delhi
Founded in 1982 on the eves of the Asian Games, Pragati Maidan is a venue for large exhibitions in New Delhi. Surrounded by greenery, the building is a massive complex with contemporary design. Pragati Maidan hosts numerous national and international exhibitions of all kinds in the smaller buildings and compounds. Five permanent exhibitions are accommodated in this complex including Nehru Pavilion, Atomic Energy and Defense Pavilion.
It also houses several pavilions such as Nehru Pavilion, Defense Pavilion, Son of India Pavilion. If you happen to visit Delhi in the month of November, be there in Pragati Maidan and be amazed by the crowds who come to participate in the India International Trade Fair, World Book Fair and the New Delhi Auto Expo.
Rock shows and plays are held regularly from time to time in the complex auditorium. Visitors can watch movie in Shakuntalam Theater and is quite popular among college goers for its cheap tickets. Visitors must visit the National Handicrafts and Handlooms Museum.
While visiting Pragati Maidan, visitors must take out time to explore Old Fort, Crafts Museum and National Zoological Park. Pragati Maidan offers several comfortable and affordable accommodations.
