Editor’s Note of Library Of Congress, Connaught Place

Located at Connaught Place in New Delhi, The Library of Congress Office, is one of six overseas offices administered by the African/Asian Acquisitions and Overseas Operations Division of the Library. Its head office is situated at Washington in USA. This office acquires, catalogs and preserves resources under the South Asian Co-operative Acquisition Programme (SACAP) from countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Mongolia and Tibet and distributes library and research materials from countries where such materials are essentially unavailable through conventional acquisitions methods. Information from North American research libraries is also gathered by The Library of Congress Office. The information gathered is in the form of journals, maps, video and sound, dailies, brochures, etc., which are available in the country in languages like Prakrit, Pali, Assamese, Konkani, Manipuri, Kashmiri, Sindhi, Hindi dialects and tribal languages. Library Of Congress opens daily except on Sundays from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
