Editor’s Note of Jijamata Udyan and Zoo, Byculla

Formerly known as Victorian Garden, it is famous for Jijamata Udyan Zoo that was laid out in the year 1861. The zoo housed amidst the famous lush green garden Rani bagh is home to rare and endangered species of animals and birds. One can easily watch teasing monkeys, singing birds, elephants and other animals in the zoo. Remains open on all days except on Wednesdays, the Zoo is open for all between 9 AM to 6 PM. Entry is paid and can enter the Zoo paying a nominal fee of Rs. 5 per head and Rs. 2 per child.
