Bol is an impressive and timely roller coaster ride of innate emotions. The film works all over – for its thoughtful story, fine performances, brilliant direction and no ordinary script. Most importantly, the film mirrors the dark situations of under developed countries in a plain and easy format that shakes and shocks a viewer. Pakistani director Shoaib Mansoor is already known for his master work in Khuda Kay Liye. This is the second time he repeats his wonderful story telling art. The story takes a look into life of a Hakeem Sahab who lives to materialize only one dream: To be the father of a male child. His passion sees his wife give birth to 14 children, of which only 7 daughters survive. The eighth child is a hermaphrodite, which further embarrasses Hakeem. The rest of the story matures around events based on how each member of the family reacts to such situation. Bol stays impressive for a thoughtful direction. All the actors do a great job making the film a hooking and emotional take on issues. The dialogues are cleverly done while the pace of the film compliments its tone. Together everything good, Bol is worth a watch for everything it is!
