Yet another cinematic masterpiece from Hollywood's most celebrated and illustrious director James Cameron that will definitely transport you to an altogether new world is Avatar, the much in news, super hyped and one of the most anticipated Hollywood potboiler of the year. Marking the comeback of its director James Cameron, after his sabbatical from film making when he delivered the mind-blowing box-office hit Titanic, this futuristic sci-fi adventure movie stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Stephen Lang in the lead.

Even before it's release, the industry insiders had delightfully given it the onus to have introduced a major breakthrough in film making for the sheer imagination and concept of the movie that was conceived by its director. Being touted as a visual extravaganza, Avatar seamlessly blends sci-fi with fantasy.

Set in the year 2154, where all the energy on the Earth has depleted, Avatar takes you to a new world, well past our imagination where on a distant moon orbiting a star called Pandora, the reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption, discovery and unexpected love, as he prepares to lead a heroic battle to save an entire civilization.

The main protagonist of the story is Jake Sully being played by Sam Worthington, who is a paraplegic ex U.S. marine. He agrees to travel to Pandora so that he can participate in the Avatar program which will eventually heal him from his ailment. Pandora is breathtakingly beautiful set in a lush rainforest environment filled with incredible life forms many of which are magnificent and exquisite while the sight of others could well send shivers down your spine. Pandora is inhabited by 'Na'vi', a humanoid race that are considered to be like the primates, yet they are much more evolved than the human beings. Ten feet tall and blue skinned, the Na'vis live peacefully in their undisturbed world. However, as the humans encroach Pandora in their quest for a valuable mineral that has been aptly named as 'Unobtainium', the very existence of Na'vi's is threatened and thus, they unveil their battling capabilities.

Now as soon as Jake dons the Avatar of the Na'vis his life undergoes a sea change. He becomes ten-feet tall bearing feline features and can walk quite freely around the planet (it is impossible for human beings to breathe in the Pandoran air). Once he enters the planet, Jake meets the Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) who is as ferocious as beautiful she is, and soon falls in love with her. Soon for different reasons, Jake is accepted into the 'Na'vi' clan, but he now finds himself entangled between the military-industrial forces of the Earth and the 'Na'vi' who are forcing him to choose sides in an epic battle that is set to ensue between the two powers. This battle will ultimately serve to decide the fate of an entire world.

Originated in the mind of James Cameron, this larger than life flick took four years to complete and is a must watch movie this weekend. Though the film may appear to be dark and a bit blurry at times but it gets compensated for the jaw dropping fight sequences, splendid digital animation and superb visuals. Furthermore, with its awe-inspiring storyline coupled with amazing cinematography by Mauro Fiore and tantalizing special effects by Joe Letteri, the movie would not fail to stir up your emotions and imagination both. Well, Avatar is sure to please those addicted to action as well animation flicks and if you do get a chance then check out its 3D version and you'll be swept off your feet!
