Editor’s Note of Jama Masjid, Charminar Road

One of the oldest mosques of the city of majestic and royal legends, Hyderabad, Jama Masjid has been one of the most renowned sacred pilgrimages of Muslims. Constructed by Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah, the mosque is one of the major tourist attractions in Hyderabad which is situated near Charminar. Designed in the Turkish style of architecture, the mosque brings in the charisma and essence of the Mughal architecture. Constructed in 1597, the mosque still is a reminiscence of the grandiose Mughal period. Ramzan, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Zuha are celebrated at the mosque with great zeal and fervor. One can visit Jama Masjid from 7 AM to 12:15 in the morning and 1:45 to sunset in the summer season while in the winter season only the morning opening times shifts from 7 AM to 8:30 AM throughout the week.
