Also referred to as Patan Choru, Patancheru is a census town and mandal headquarter in Medak District of Andhra Pradesh. It is approximately thirty-two kilometers away from Hyderabad. Patancheru abounds in temples constructed between 12th and 15th centuries; it was ranked as one of the happiest towns of India (in 2010).

Many educational institutes are present here like St.Joseph's High School, Gitam University Hyderabad Campus, TRR college of Engineering, Manjeera Public School and so on. The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics is also located here.
