Editor’s Note of Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, Himayath Nagar

Situated at Basheerbagh, Himayat Nagar in Hyderabad, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is an internationally reputed institution that is dedicated to the promotion of education and culture. It is a charitable public trust founded by Dr. K.M. Munshi on November 7, 1938. Set up with the aim of providing professional studies at the under-graduate and post-graduate level on a part-time basis, the college is a premier institution located in the heart of the city. It offers avenues of continuing education, mainly to those in employment. The founding members of the Bhavan include Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of the Republic of India, Shri C. Rajagopalachari, the first Indian and last Governor General of India; Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of free India; Sardar Patel , Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, and several distinguished scholars, statesmen and leaders of modern Indian renaissance. From small beginning, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan has grown into a great intellectual, cultural and educational movement with 112 Kendras in India, eight overseas Centres and 280 constituent institutions, besides a number of affiliated colleges. It is making pioneer efforts, to promote non-formal education in modern management-based professional, technical, vocational and career- oriented disciplines and courses, such as post graduate diploma in airlines, tourism, tours and travel management.
