After the arrival of all the big international fast-food chains, Burger King is just what the Indian market has been missing. Not anymore! The US-based hamburger chain is soon planning to enter the Indian market. KFC and McDonald's will see their toughest competitor joining soon the Indian organised food service market.
The hamburger giant has been trying to enter India for many years. The talks held some years ago with DLF and Kishore Biyani's Future Group could not be materialised. Finally, Burger King has formed a joint venture with the Everstone Group, which is an Indian-owned, Singapore-based private equity and real estate group. Everstone Group also controls Blue Foods, India's largest restaurant company with brands like The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Noodle Bar and Copper Chimney.
We are still to find out which Indian city will have the first Burger King outlet. Wherever the first outlet may open, one thing is for sure that the hardcore carnivores in India are eager to take a bite of Burger King's legendary burger 'Whooper'.
