Editor’s Note of Diwan-E-Khas, Rakab Ganj

Diwan-e-Khaas is a luxurious hall at the Agra Fort where the emperor meet dignitaries and foreign ambassadors. Built of sandstone it has two thrones on the terrace, one of white marble but the other of black slate, it was constructed in the year 1635 by Shah Jahan. Diwan-e-Khas was the true citadel of power built within the Agra Fort in Agra. For visiting this Diwan-E-Khaas, an entry fee of Rs.35 is charged. Visiting hours are between 9 AM to 6 PM and is open on all days.
